Miss McCracken is Shade's PSHE and RSE leader.

Our PSHE programme is at the centre of the school curriculum; ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’, providing opportunities to teach concepts, knowledge, language, strategies and skills that enrich the wider curriculum. At Shade, we are preparing our pupils to be able to flourish and thrive with the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern day Britain.

Our adaptive and inclusive curriculum meets the needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) by adapting teaching and learning to suit all children and all abilities. We ensure that our curriculum fosters gender equality and LGBT+ equality by ensuring the quality of an inclusive and diverse curriculum.

We are committed to providing all our children with an effective  Relationship and Sex  Education (RSE) so that we can help our children build happy, healthy relationships, both now and in their adult lives.

To be effective, RSE should always be taught within a broader PSHE education programme. RSE enhances and is enhanced by learning related to topics including anti-bullying; keeping safe on and off line; keeping physically and mentally healthy, learning about drugs, alcohol and tobacco; and the development of skills and attributes such as communication skills, managing peer pressure, risk management, resilience and decision making.
